Keyword Hero. A Solution to the (Not Provided) Keyword.

Why do we need a blog keyword solution?

Why do we need a solution to help us determine Keywords to use?  People should just want to read our blogs because we’re awesome right?  How will they know how awesome our blogs are if they can’t find us?  Keywords are a major part of making sure website and blog SEO are running smoothly and are relevant.  Whether you are using Wordpress or Blogger, incorporating your main keywords into your post is important so search engine crawlers and indexing can pick them up and determine the relevance of the piece to what others are searching for.

How we add keywords

According to the Blogger help section (2018), this is done by adding keywords into your title, subtitles, and text as well as create a permalink that is relevant to the content.  If you are talking about adding keywords to your blog, such as this blog, you will want to use keywords that point to the fact that is what your blog is about.  If you are adding keywords to a WordPress website or blog, you can use Yoast SEO tools to guide you in determining the areas that need improved to optimize your content the most effectively.  This generally consists of choosing main keywords (I use the free version so I can only optimize for one keyword) and including it in your meta description, title, URL slug, ALT tags on images, and a certain density in your actual text.

How do we know which keywords will get the most attention?

This is a wonderful thing to use Google AdWords keyword planner for.  If you do a little keyword research using the keyword planner, you can come up with a list of keywords and how popular they are as well as how much it would cost to advertise your blog or website using these keywords.  Here is an example of some of the keywords that came up from searching “keyword planning” under the Advertising & Marketing section.

As you can see, there are several different keywords mostly related to Google AdWords keyword planner.  Keyword research is an essential step to maximize your SEO, however, my Google Analytics solution helps you to maximize your SEO even further.

The Solution

Keyword Hero is a solution that works with Google Analytics to track keywords your viewers use to find you.  With keyword research, you try to determine which keywords your viewers may use to reach you.  Most web search platforms such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. will give the searcher suggestions for content that would closely match their search, in other words, they may not be searching for you, but your keywords lead the search platform to believe they are looking for something like your service/page/blog/etc.  This solution compiles a list of organic keywords in Google Analytics that searchers use to find you.  In addition, keywords are tracked by several aspects to determine their effectiveness.  Some of these aspects are:
  • ·        Sessions where keyword led searcher to the site
  • ·        Bounce rate
  • ·        Pages/session
  • ·        Avg. Session duration
  • ·        Goal conversion rate
  • ·        Goal completion
  • ·        Goal value
  • ·        You can also add secondary dimensions (landing page or position of keywords)

These metrics help you determine the behaviors of the searchers who use specific terms.  In the above example, roses received the highest views and had the second lowest bounce rate, however, it only resulted in $34 in revenue.  Order flowers had less views, even if not by much, and a much higher bounce rate, however, brought in $265 in revenue.  This seems to be a flower shop that offers bouquets and flower arrangements, if someone searched for roses, they may be searching for roses to plant rather than roses in an arrangement.  Using Keyword Hero helps you determine which keywords are the most strategic for your business which helps you to go back and optimize for the keywords that are better than what you are currently using.

How does Keyword Hero get their information?

The Keyword Hero website states it does this in three steps:
     1.   “Keyword computing - In the first step, the SC is being merged with the combined data from Cognitive Services and the Rank Monitoring data to compute keywords and a first likelyhood.
2.      Keyword matching - Now the Hero tries to match the keywords with their corresponding sessions in Analytics. He first checks, whether a plug in captured a search, then looks for other indicators.
3.      Keyword Attribution - In 50-60% of the cases, he matches with absolute certainty. For the remainder, the Hero uses eight scoring models. If the probability is less than 83%, they’ll stay (not provided).” (2018)

How to use the information

The data collected is saved in your GA account forever, so you can continue monitoring keywords over time to determine which ones are the most profitable in the long run.  You can choose to monitor the information collected in GA or you can also use Excel workbooks to monitor the information if that is easier for you to manage.  You can see your rankings for each keyword, this allows you to change your keyword strategy and see how your ranking is affected.  You can determine which keywords would be beneficial to boost in AdWords.  Another way you can use the keywords is to get ideas for new landing pages.  (Keyword Hero, 2018)

How much will this solution cost you?

There are four different monthly plans for Keyword Hero.  The first is a free account called Little Hero.  This account checks your 25 most frequented URLs.  The second is called the Big Hero for $9/month.  This account checks your 250 most frequented URLs.  The third is called the Giant Hero for $29/month.  This account checks your 1000 most frequented URLs.  Lastly, there is the Ultimate Hero for $99/month.  This account checks all URLs of your domain.  (Keyword Hero, 2018)

The setup

Keyword Hero is easy to set up.  Once you log into your Google account, you are asked to choose the website(s) already set up with GA you would like to add Keyword Hero to.  Once you do this, the next process is to link your website or blog.  There are several providers that work with Keyword Hero to make this process simpler.  If you can’t link using the automated process, you can create a TXT record in your DNS settings through your provider.  If you need to use this route, the website gives you directions on how to do this for each provider which makes the process much easier.  Once your website or blog is linked, you can log in and see everything in your GA account.  They say it takes up to 24 hours to see results.  It’s free so try it and see how well it does for you!
